Green Street is the Envirowise environmental impact tool it is virtual tour designed to help your business become more resource efficient. Green street consists of a hotel, restaurant, public house, office and factory. Each building has up to six different rooms relating to the type of services each establishment provides. Within the different rooms there are a variety of hotspots containing tips and advice on how to make that item more resource efficient and where to find more information.
Business Link
While it's possible for a business to save money at the same time as helping protect the environment, it is important to identify exactly where savings could be made. Business Link's interactive tool will help you to assess the areas where you are most likely to be able to cut costs, based on your business activities. It will provide you with money-saving tips and links to sources of further information. The tool should take no more than five minutes to complete.

The recycle at work section of the WRAP (Waste & Resources Action Programme) website provides some business recycling case studies for various business sectors from offices to retail to hospitality.
The case study section of the business envestors website provides business recycling waste minimisation case studies for various sectors including food and drink, manufacturing and packaging.
Waste Awareness Certificate – training opportunities
The training for the Waste Awareness Certificate (CIWM Chartered Institute of Waste Management accredited) is available from CIWM and Waste Watch for people responsible for waste and recycling in their organisation. You will:
- Learn about different types of waste
- Understand your legal responsibilities for waste
- Learn how to conduct a waste audit to identify cost savings
- Learn how to reduce, reuse and recycle waste
- Learn about disposal routes for remaining wastes
- Learn how to deal with waste safely
- Identify sources of help
The training provides an introduction to waste management for people responsible for waste and recycling in their organisation. This course will provide you with the knowledge and skills to help your organisation reduce waste, maximise recycling rates and minimise your costs.
Who should attend?
Shop floor workers, managers – particularly facilities managers or those responsible for waste, office staff, cleaners, contractors etc. However, anybody who disposes of or deals with waste will benefit from this course and it is applicable to almost every type of organisation.

The course uses case studies and best practice examples to help you improve waste management and minimise the cost of waste disposal. Participants receive a reference booklet and if you complete the course successfully you are awarded a Chartered Institution of Wastes Management accredited certificate. The training covers:
