Legislation – Guidance

Are you aware of the waste legislation that applies to your business?

For example, the 'Duty of Care' Regulations apply to all businesses, whatever size, that generate any type of waste, which means that you are obligated!

It requires that all businesses ensure any waste produced is stored, handled, transported and disposed of safely without harming the environment.

Are you complying with the relevant legislation?

The RECAP Business waste – your responsibility leaflet provides a quick reference guide to your responsibilities as a business for the waste that you produce. The purpose of this leaflet is to:

  • Provide businesses with knowledge of the Duty of Care regulations
  • Ensure producers of business waste are aware of their obligations to pre treat the waste that their business produces
  • Help businesses understand their obligations with regards to any hazardous waste their business produces

This resource was developed by the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Waste Partnership, with the support of the Business Resource Efficiency and Waste Programme funding.
