Campaigns & Education - Compost Awareness Week

Compost Awareness Week is an international multi-media publicity and education initiative to showcase compost production and demonstrate compost use. It aims to encourage the public and business communities alike to take action to support composting at all scales and to use compost. This initiative began in Canada in 1995 and was brought to the UK for the first time in 2001 by The Composting Association.

The campaign is usually the second week in May and Cambridgeshire and Peterborough fully embrace this chance to provide information to the public.

If you are interested in composting and want to find out more about it then this is the week for you!

There are usually different activities going on throughout the week including open days and tours at the composting sites, compost competitions, free compost giveaways, and roadshows to provide more information.
