Recycle Week 2017

Look good and feel good this Recycle Week

Look good and feel good this Recycle Week

Whether your bathroom regime is a quick shower or a two-hour makeover, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Waste Partnership is teaming up with Recycle Now this Recycle Week to encourage Cambridgeshire residents to look and feel good by recycling bathroom items like empty deodorants and finished-with fragrances.

While we all do our bit to recycle what we can, certain items around the house can somehow evade the recycling bin. Recycling just a few more items can make a big difference – and the bathroom is a good place to start. In the UK, almost 90% of packaging is recycled in our kitchens, while just over half (52%) of items are recycled in the bathroom.

If everyone in Cambridgeshire recycled one more deodorant spray, it would save enough energy to power a typical primary school for 44 weeks.

If you live in an area where food waste in collected, make sure you wrap it in newspaper, put in a paper bag or put in loose in the organic recycling bin. Don’t forget you can also home compost your uncooked vegetable waste! See our video here.

For those bigger items around the home, don’t forget that we have nine Household Recycling Centres around the County where items are sent off for reuse or recycling. All our centres will move to winter hours from 1 October. Check out our opening times here.
