04/01/2010 - Peterborough Shortlists Bidders for Waste Tenders
Peterborough City Council will announce its shortlist of bidders for an energy-from-waste facility, improved materials recycling facility and various operational services currently carried out by Peterborough City Services.
Following the short-listing decision, these bidders will then be invited to engage with the council in competitive dialogue to discuss their proposed solutions for the delivery of these major contracts.
The short-listing decision follows an evaluation of pre-qualification questionnaires based on an announcement of the contracts in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) earlier this year.
The city council received a good response from the market and is confident that the short-listing process will produce a range of bidders that can offer effective and varied solutions for the council to consider. This will include the transfer of Peterborough City Services staff who currently operate the services to be included in the operational services contract.
A decision notice has today (Thursday 31 December 2009) been issued by Deputy Leader and cabinet member Councillor Matthew Lee. The names of the successful bidders will be announced on 7 January 2010 unless the notice is ‘called in’ through the council’s democratic processes. If the notice is called in, the matter will be discussed by both the Environment Capital and Sustainable Growth scrutiny committees at a meeting on 14 January 2010.
