Schools & Recycling Education: Peterborough
Peterborough City Council support rubbish education by providing:
- Talks about waste and recycling to schools and community groups
- Educational material to support environmental projects
- Talks on litter and other cleansing issues, encouraging community involvement
Peterborough City Council also provides an Education Room located at the Peterborough Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) in partnership with the operators Viridor and is managed by a dedicated Campaign and Education Team.
The Education Room has been
designed and developed to be interesting and informative
for all age groups. Activities are targeted to
satisfy specific groups interests right from Primary
schools (age 7 and above) to adult levels.
An 'Education Pack' providing useful information on material identification etc plus suggestions for follow up activities, are available to visiting groups and can be adapted to suit specific requirements.
It is preferable for groups
to visit the MRF, where tours of the facility
can be offered. When this is not possible the
Education Officer can go to their venue and where
possible use displays and samples of recycled
materials to reinforce the recycling message.
