Join Our Local Food Waste Volunteers - Harry's Heroes!
Join our mission to educate the community about using their new kitchen caddies! We’re seeking enthusiastic volunteers for our local door-knocking campaign. This is a fantastic opportunity to give back to your community and make a tangible impact on the environment by boosting recycling rates in your neighbourhood. Volunteers will visit households in their local community to show residents what food waste goes into their kitchen caddy, when they should put their kerbside caddies out, and what they can do to help keep their caddies clean and usable.
If you’re interested in volunteering with your local collection authority, please fill out the form below. We aim to launch the campaign in the summer of 2025.

Introducing Simpler Recycling in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough
The Government has recently announced plans to create a national standard for household recycling. Simpler Recycling will make recycling easier for residents by reducing confusion and ensuring that all local authorities recycle the same materials at kerbside collections. This legislation will now require local authorities to collect household food waste.
This will be the first time that most residents in Cambridgeshire will be able to recycle their food waste using a designated kitchen caddy. By choosing to dispose of your food waste using the food waste collection service, you can prevent organic materials from not being recycled. Your food waste is likely to be processed at an anaerobic digester, which transforms organic waste into sustainable gas that generates electricity, or high-quality compost.
